The Names of God

Part 8: Jehovah Rapha

December 10, 2023

(Exodus 15:26 NIV) He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am [Jehovah Rapha] the LORD, who heals you.”

approach.

(James 5:13-15 NIV) Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

God still .

(Psalm 103:2-3 NIV) Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.

  • I can be healed

(Matthew 4:23-24 NIV) Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.

(Hebrews 13:8 NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

  • I can be healed .

(Psalm147:3 NIV) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

(Isaiah 61:1 NIV) The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captivesand release from darkness for the prisoners.

  • I can be healed .

(John 4:14 AMP) But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life.

(1 Peter 2:24 ESV) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

  1. Stop to people and starting crying out to God.

(Exodus 15:22-25 NLT) Then Moses led the people of Israel away from the Red Sea, and they moved out into the desert of Shur. They traveled in this desert for three days without finding any water. When they came to the oasis of Marah, the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah (which means “bitter”). Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded. So Mosescried out to the Lord for help

  1. Do what , even when it doesn’t make sense.

(Exodus 15:25 NLT) …the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink. It was there at Marah that the Lord set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him.

(John 2:5 NIV) His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’

(Isaiah 55:8-9 LB) This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.

  1. Focus on what God wants to do , not just for you.

(Hebrews 12:14-15 NLT) Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

(Matthew 10:28 NIV) Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

(Luke 10:20 NLT) But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.

  1. Believe the .

(Mark 10:27 NIV) Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

The is the .

(1 Peter 1:6-7 NIV) In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
