THE ART OF WAR

Part 4: How to Get Ready for Battle

August 27, 2023

The fight to believe and obey God’s truth over the enemies lies.

(Joshua 3:13-15 NIV) “Remember the command that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you after he said, ‘The Lord your God will give you rest by giving you this land.’ Your wives, your children and your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites. You are to help them until the Lord gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land the Lord your God is giving them.

(Joshua 13:1 NLT) When Joshua was an old man, the Lord said to him, “You are growing old, and much land remains to be conquered.

You don’t get what you are ,

you get what you for.

  • – God works you.

(Exodus 14:14 NIV) The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

  • – God works you.

It took one day to get the Hebrews ;

it took forty years to get the Hebrews.

  • – God works you.

(Acts 1:8 NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

(Ephesians 6:11 NIV) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemesPut on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’sschemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

(Ephesians 6:14 NIV) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist…

1. The belt of truth because Satan is the ultimate truth twister.

(John 8:32 NIV) Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

(Judges 21:25 NKJV) In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

(Ephesians 6:14 NIV) …with the breastplate of righteousness in place…

2. The breastplate of righteousness because Satan is after your potential.

(2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV) God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

(Mark 7:21-23 NIV) For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.

(Ezekiel 26:36 NLT) And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

(Ephesians 6:15 NLT) …and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

3. The shoes of peace because Satan wants to fill you with anxiety.

(Philippians 4:6-7 NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

(John 14:27 NIV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

(John 16:33 NIV) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

(Ephesians 6:16 NIV) In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

4. The shield of because Satan wants to fill you with .

Trust God’s .

Trust God’s .

Trust God’s .

(2 Corinthians 4:17 CEV) These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all of our troubles seem like nothing.

(Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT) A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

(Ephesians 6:17 NIV) Take the helmet of salvation

5. The helmet of salvation because he wants to confuse your mind.

(Colossians 3:2 NIV) Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

(Eph 6:17) Take the…sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

6. The sword of the word because Satan is a liar.

(Genesis 3:1 NIV) Did God really say…?

(Revelation 12:10-11 NIV) Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
