THE ART OF WAR

Part 2: Breaking Strongholds

Spiritual Warfare: The fight to believe and obey

God’s truth over the enemies lies.

(Luke 4:18) The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

(Acts 10:38) …how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

(1 John 3:8) The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

If all you see is what you see, then you

will never see all there is to be seen.

(2 Kings 6:15-17 NIV) When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

(1 Chronicles 21:1 ESV) Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel.

(1 Kings 22:23 NIV) So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.

(Luke 22:31-32 NIV) “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

(2 Corinthians 10:3-5) For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

(2 Timothy 2:26 NIV) …they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

(Matthew 12:29 NIV) Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

(Luke 11:21-22 MSG) “When a strong man, armed to the teeth, stands guard in his front yard, his property is safe and sound. But what if a stronger man comes along with superior weapons? Then he’s beaten at his own game, the arsenal that gave him such confidence hauled off, and his precious possessions plundered.”

1. my thought life.

(Romans 8:5-6 NLT) Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace.

(Romans 12:2 NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

2. the lie.

(John 8:44) “…When (the devil) lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

When we expose the lie,

we defeat the liar.

3. the door.

(1 John 1:9 NIV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

  • Is the door open?
  • When was the first time the door was opened?
  • Forgive person(s) who opened the door.
  • What is the lie believed keeping the door open?
  • Renounce the lie.
  • What is the truth?
  • Declare the truth.
  • Ask Jesus for help to seal the door with his blood.

4. Replace the lie with God’s truth.

(Ephesians 6:10-18) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes… (Take) the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray
