A Happier New Year: Getting There — From Here | Part 1: Over Time, Not Overnight

Happier Truth #1:
While We’re Focused on Outcomes,
God Is Forming

Philippians 1:11 (NLT)

May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation — the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ — for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Our abilities may open doors —
but it’s our character
that determines what happens
once we walk through them.

Philippians 2:13 (NLT)

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.

CHARACTER IS FORMED —
NOT INSTALLED

Happier Truth #2:

We Want Speed; God Values

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT)

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

Galatians 6:9 (NLT)

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

WAITING TIME IS NOT WASTING TIME —
GOD CONTROLS THE SEASONS

Daniel 2:21 (NLT)

God controls the times and the seasons.

Happier Truth #3:

We Want Change; God Works

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (MSG)
I planted the seed, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow.
⁷ It’s not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the center of this process but God, who makes things grow.

SUCCESS IS FAITHFULNESS

• Showing up when it’s hard
• Telling the truth and keeping our word —
  even when it costs us
• Doing the right thing —
  when no one’s watching
• Staying consistent —
when progress feels slow or invisible
