September 21, 2025

2 Corinthians 12:5 -– I will boast only about my weaknesses.

Weakness Advantage #1

Weakness Us for Grace!

1 Corinthians 1:27–30 (MSG)

Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these ‘nobodies’ (the weak) to expose the hollow pretensions of the ‘somebodies’ (the strong)? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ.

How would you complete this statement?

“My weakness is ______________.”

“My weaknesses are ____________.”

Weakness Advantage #2

Weakness Is a to Be Appreciated!

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 (MSG)

Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap (weakness) to keep me in constant touch with my limitations . . . . 8 At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, 9 and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that … I quit focusing on the handicap/weakness and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.

Weakness can help us live !

  • God sometimes uses crises as – weakness identifiers!

  • God often usesfriends as weakness revealers!

Proverbs 27:6 (NLT) – Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.

Weakness can help protect us from !

Colossians 2:14–15 (NLT)

Jesus canceled the record of the charges against us … In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

Weakness can help equip us for !

2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (TLB)

What a wonderful God we have … who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled … we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.

Weakness Advantage #3 –

Weakness Is the Beginning of !

2 Corinthians 12:10 (MSG)

Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to sizeabuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.
