Be Intentional…TODAY! | Mike Teixeira
August 25, 2024Ephesians 2:19 (LB)- “You are a member of God’s very own family and YOU BELONG in God’s household with every other Christian.”
- INTENTION- “a thing intended; an aim or plan”
- INTENTIONAL- “done on purpose; deliberate”
“Everyone ends up somewhere, but few people end up somewhere on purpose.”
Craig Groeschel
Big Idea: “An intentional life is about syncing our life to the rhythm of God’s heart, so we can live God’s best!”
To be intentional…today…
1. your “” into today!
Psalm 39:4-5
4 “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.
5 You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.” (breathe in/blow it out)
James 4:13-14 (NLT)
13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
“Time passes, and it never needs our permission. Don’t wait until you have no choice but to take action. If there’s something in life that demands your attention, do it now. Don’t wait. Turn someday into today!”
Tim Tebow
To live an intentional life…
2. every part of your life at Jesus
“What we cherish in our core, we aim at with our life”
John 15: 1-2 (NLT)
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
John 15:3-4 (NLT)
3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
John 15:5 (NLT)
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Hebrews 10:19-22 (NLT)
19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:23-25 (NLT)
23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Two reasons WHY we need to be connected to Jesus and others…
1. We can’t stand alone before God without Jesus
2. We can’t stand alone for long in this world without others
