  • God gave rule in the garden

Genesis 2:15-17 (NIRV)

The Lord God put the man in the Garden of Eden. He put him there to farm its land and take care of it. 16 The Lord God gave the man a command. He said, “You may eat fruit from any tree in the garden. 17 But you must not eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you do, you will certainly die.”

  • Jesus said… it really comes down to just commandments

Matthew 22:36-40 (NIRV)

36 “Teacher,” he asked, “which is the most important commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind.’ (Deuteronomy 6:5) 38 This is the first and most important commandment. 39 And the second is like it. ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ (Leviticus 19:18) 40 Everything that is written in the Law and the Prophets is based on these two commandments.”

  • Jesus said to Martha… thing matter more than our many things

Luke 10:41-42 (NIRV)

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered. “You are worried and upset about many things. 42 But few things are needed. Really, only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better. And it will not be taken away from her.”

  • Jesus said… when you pray you only need a words

Matthew 6:5-8 (NIRV)

5 “When you pray, do not be like those who only pretend to be holy. They love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners. They want to be seen by other people. What I’m about to tell you is true. They have received their complete reward. 6 When you pray, go into your room. Close the door and pray to your Father, who can’t be seen. Your Father will reward you, because he sees what you do secretly. 7 When you pray, do not keep talking on and on. That is what ungodly people do. They think they will be heard because they talk a lot. 8 Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need even before you ask him.

[3] When it comes to time with God… Keep it

Daniel 6:10 Easy-to-Read Version

10 Daniel always prayed to God three times every day. Three times every day, he bowed down on his knees to pray and praise God. Even though Daniel heard about the new law, he still went to his house to pray. He went up to the upper room of his house and opened the windows that faced toward Jerusalem. Then Daniel bowed down on his knees and prayed just as he always had done.

[4] When it comes to time with God… Keep it

Luke 5:16 (NIRV)

But Jesus often went away to be by himself and pray.

Mark 1:35 (NIRV)

It was very early in the morning and still dark. Jesus got up and left the house. He went to a place where he could be alone. There he prayed.

[5] When it comes to time with God… Keep it

  • I’m not going through religious motions… I’m meeting with a

Psalm 63:1-3 (NLT)

1 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. 2 I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. 3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!

  • When I keep my heart engaged in my time with God it helps re-train our

Romans 6:12 (NLT)

12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.

  • As my desires are trained by the Word, more of what I will happen

Psalm 37:4 (NIRV)

4 Find your delight in the Lord. Then he will give you everything your heart really wants.
