The fawn response

THE DEVIL HATES YOU.

1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls (moves around restlessly) around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

John 8:44 (NIV)

44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Matthew 13:19 (NIV)

19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.

Matthew 4:1 (NIV)
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

Hebrews 2:14 NIV
14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—

John 10:10 NIV
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

YOU’VE GOT POWER OVER THE DEVIL

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Luke 10:19 (NIV)

19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

Mark 6:7 (NIV)
7 Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.

2 Timothy 1:7 (AB)

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].

We know:

  • that the devil hates us and is working overtime to destroy us

  • that we have POWER over satan

SO….

What do we do?

WAKE UP

Isaiah 52:1 (KJV)
1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Ephesians 5:14 (AMP)

14 For this reason He says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light.”

He DOESN’T FIGHT FAIR.

GET UP

FIGHT BACK

Elevate:

Prayer – personalize and apply the word of God to the situation

Psalm 138:2 (NLT)

2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.

You can’t pray for future things as if they are hesitantly hoped to be received in the future… You must pray for future things from the vantage point of having already received them in IN THE PRESENT

Mark 11:23-24 (AMP)

23 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will]. 24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.

Example #1:

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Example #2:

Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Praise – Do something different/Come out of your comfort zone

Psalm 145:3 (ESV)
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

Awareness – Know that you are:

–  shielded/protected by God

–  empowered by God to carry out his will for your life

–  loved and accepted by God

–  housing the GREAT one on the inside of you; who is GREATER than the defeated energy/being that is opposing me

Action – Walk in the BOLDNESS and POWER of God

–  as an agent for/ambassador of Jesus, what you do is in favor of representing the complete essence of who he is.

–  Holy Spirit works within us to perfect the representation we display in our everyday lives
