Cultivate | Part 3 – Cultivating Peace!

May 21, 2023

Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.

John 14:27 (NLT)
“I
am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

God’s peace is the presence and security of divine order!

1 Corinthians 14:33 (NLT)
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace (upward order — peace with God; inward order — peace of God; outward order — peace with others!)

To Cultivate God’s Peace – About Everything!

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 (NLT)
Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

To Cultivate God’s Peace – Differently!

Proverbs 4:23 (TEV)

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.

Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

We need to ask –

Is what I’m thinking true? (Check it out … test everything!)

Is what I’m thinking honorable? (Is it value-adding or value-diminishing?)

Is what I’m thinking right? (More than correct, means just and fair?)

Is what I’m thinking pure? (Means both morally clean and fits God’s purposes for my life!)

Is what I’m thinking lovely? (Does it encourage loving attitudes and actions?)

Is what I’m thinking admirable, excellent, praiseworthy? (Is it consistent with who I’m created and called to be)

Isaiah 26:3 (NLV)

You will keep the person in perfect peace whose mind is kept on You,

Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG)
I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned outplans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

To Cultivate God’s Peace – Totally!

Philippians 4:13 (LB)

I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power.
