Power Lesson #1:

Our heaven-sent Helper empowers us !

Acts 1:8 (NLT)

(Jesus said) — “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

For Christ promised him (our heaven-sent Helper) to each one of you who has been called by the Lord our God, and to your children and even to those in distant lands!”

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (MSG)

… So I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations … ⁸ At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, ⁹ and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength (divine ability) comes into its own in your weakness … ¹⁰ Now I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get (realize I am), the stronger I become (as I depend more and more on him!)

Divine ability is given for who God wants us to be!

The fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control.

Divine ability is also given for what God calls us to do!

In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world.

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.
² Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. ³ Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. ⁴ And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
