[1] God wants us to know… he is our

Exodus 15:26 English Standard Version

… I am the Lord, your healer.” [Jehovah-Rapha]

Psalm 103:2-4 New International Version

2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your sins  and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion…

Psalm 107:19-21 New International Version

19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.

[2] God wants us to know… healing is for him

Mark 2:7-11 New International Version

“Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’?10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”

Matthew 19:26 New International Version

… with God all things are possible.”

Luke 7:7-10 English Standard Version

Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed…  When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

[3] God wants us to know… healing was bought for us with the of the cross

Isaiah 53:5 Amplified Bible

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24 New Living Translation

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

[4] is a greater work than supernatural works on earth

Luke 10:17-20 New International Reader’s Version

17 The 72 returned with joy. They said, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we speak in your name.” 18 Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to walk all over snakes and scorpions. You will be able to destroy all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you. 20 But do not be glad when the evil spirits obey you. Instead, be glad that your names are written in heaven.”

[5] There are some why we may not receive healing

  • Our negative thoughts and words can block the work of God

Matthew 13:55-58 New International Version

55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57 And they took offense at him.

But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”

58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

  • Remaining in ways

John 5:7-9, 14 New International Version

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked….

14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

  • God is using our to work a greater power through us

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 New International Reader’s Version

God has shown me amazing and wonderful things. People should not think more of me because of it. So I wouldn’t become proud of myself, I was given a problem. This problem caused pain in my body. It is a messenger from Satan to make me suffer. Three times I begged the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So I am very happy to brag about how weak I am. Then Christ’s power can rest on me.

[6] We should seek healing…

James 5:14-15 Amplified Bible

14 Is anyone among you sick? He must call for the elders (spiritual leaders) of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
