BIG IDEA: Our hope is found in the “Light” on the tree!

 

Hope Building Truth #1

Isaiah 9:1a- “Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever.”

 

Isaiah 9:1b- “The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.

 

Isaiah 9:2- “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.

 

Matthew 4:12-16…

12 When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. 13 He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah:

15 “In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali,
    beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River,
    in Galilee where so many Gentiles live,
16 the people who sat in darkness
    have seen a great light.
And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow,
    a light has shined.”

  • He’s a God who keeps His

 

Genesis 3:15- “I’m declaring war between you and the Woman, between your offspring and hers. He’ll wound your head, and you’ll wound his heel.”

 

Isaiah 9:6…

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting father, the Prince of Peace.

  • When things look the darkest, Jesus is the “Light” that

 

John 8:12- Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

 

1 Peter 2:24 KJV- Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

 

The Message- “He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.”

 

OUR HOPE IS FOUND IN JESUS THE LIGHT ON THE TREE!
