Loving Difficult People

Luke 6:32 – “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them!”

1 Timothy 1:12–13 – I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who gave me strength, because he trusted me and gave me this work of serving him. In the past I spoke against Christ and persecuted him and did all kinds of things to hurt him. But God showed me mercy, because I did not know what I was doing. I did not believe.

1. A Great Benefit Of Grace Is That I Don’t Have To Prove My Worth

Galatians 1:13–15 – You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I violently persecuted God’s church. I did my best to destroy it. I was far ahead of my fellow Jews in my zeal for the traditions of my ancestors. But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him…

2. God Has Never Used A Perfect Person Because There Aren’t Any

3. Every Saint Has A Past And Every Sinner Has A Future!

Ephesians 2:10 – It is God himself who has made us what we are, and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.

Luke 6:27-29 – Jesus describes things difficult people might do: “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.”

1. Give extravagantly.

Luke 6:30 – “Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.”

2. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Luke 6:31 – “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

3. Love unexpectedly.

Luke 6:32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.”
