MIRACLES | PART 4 – SEEMINGLY INSIGNIFICANT MIRACLES

P. Heather Ramirez

AT THE HOME OF MARY AND MARTHA

Luke 10:38-42 (NIV) As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

John 12:1-3 (NIV) Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

“We are like musical instruments in a band. We’re each important and are meant compliment each other. Not all of us make the same sound, some are soft, and others are loud. Not all of us have the same ability. But each of us have a place.”

  • Martha and kept everyone in step (Drum)

  • Mary by anointing her Lord with an extravagant gift, and its aroma filled the air. (Flute)

  • Lazarus had a to tell and he was ready to tell it! (Trumpet)

ALL THREE WORKED TOGETHER WITH ONE PURPOSE

Different Skill – Different Ability = One Purpose

MARTHA

Luke 10:40 (NCV) Martha complained, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

1.   Martha .

John 12:2 (NIV) Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him.

Psalms 100:1-5 (AMP) …Serve the LORD with gladness and delight; Come before His presence with joyful singing. Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture…

Martha was willing to receive and her and her were healed.

Proverbs 15:32 (ESV) Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.

Proverbs 15:32 (NIV) Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.

Job 5:17 (NIV) “Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

Every church desperately needs some Marthas…

  •  The church budget gets .

  • The church babies gets .

  •  The church building gets .

MARY

2.  Mary .

Mary and Martha both learned that that there is a place for sacrificial and extravagant

Mary’s are gifted with praise:

  • They don’t just sing – they .

  • They don’t just simply attend church, they go to offer .

  • They don’t just talk about Christ, they Christ.

Psalms 95:6 (NLT) Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

Psalms 71:8 (ESV) My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.

  • Mary’s need to remember that service is

  • Martha’s need to remember that worship is

LAZARUS

John 12:9-11 (NIV) Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

3.  Lazarus

John 12:11 (NIV) …for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

  • God still gives

  • God is still performing !

  • God is still lining up our everyday “” moments and performing miracles. And, He’s using to do it!

Mark 16:17-20 (NKJV) And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

If God has called you to be a Martha, then !

If God has called you to be a Mary, then !

If God has called you to be a Lazarus, then !
