Waiting for GLORY

Romans 8:18-25

Dec 11, 2022

Are We THERE Yet?

Romans 8:18 (NIV) — I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us

Here:

Creation is beautiful, but broken.

Romans 8:20 (NIV) — For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it . . .

Genesis 3:17-18 (NIV) — “Cursed is the ground because of you . . . it will produce thorns and thistles for you.”

Romans 8:23 (NIV) — Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies

Romans 8:22 (NIV) — We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time

There:

Romans 8:218 (NIV) — I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us

Creation is broken, but the future is bright

Romans 8:19 (NIV) — For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

Romans 8:21 (NIV)— . . . the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

Romans 8:23 (NIV) — Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies

Genesis 1:28 (NIV) — “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Revelation 5:10 (NIV) — “. . . you have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

Stuck in the

Romans 8:15 (NIV) — “. . . the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.”

Romans 8:23 (NIV) — “. . . we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship.”

Already-Not Yet

Romans 8:23 (NIV) — Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

Romans 8:25 (NIV) — . . . if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Wait Eagerly and Patiently
