Who’s Your One? | While We Wait

May 29, 2022

Acts 1:9-10 (CSB)

After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight. While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.

Acts 1:11 (CSB)

They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seem him going into heaven.

Why do you stand looking up to heaven?

This same Jesus will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.

Same Jesus- Same Way

Resurrected Jesus- Can his

Luke 24:15-16 (CSB)

And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus himself came near and began to walk among with them. But they were prevented from recognizing him.

Resurrected Jesus- Can .

John 20:19 (CSB)

When it was evening on that first day of the week, the disciples were gathered together with the doors locked because they feared the Jews. Jesus came, stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

Resurrected Jesus- Can .

Luke 24:30-31 (CSB)

It was as he reclined at the table with them that he took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, but he disappeared from their sight.

Resurrected Jesus- Can

Acts 1:9 (CSB)

After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

Revelation 1:12-18 (CSB)

Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me. When I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was one like the Son of Man, dressed in a robe and with a golden sash wrapped around his chest. The hair of his head was white as wool- white as snow- and his eyes like a fiery flame. His feet were like fine bronze as it is fired in a furnace, and his voice like the sound of cascading waters. He had seven stars in his right hand; a sharp double-edged sword came from his mouth, and his face was shining like the sun at full strength. When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I was dead, but look- I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

When Jesus Returns- It will happen .

Luke 17:26-36 (CSB)

Just as it was in the days on Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: People went on eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be like that on the day the Sone of Man is revealed. On that day, a man on the housetop, whose belongings are ing the house, must not come down to get them. Likewise the man who is in the field must not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife! Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.

When Jesus Returns- It will be .

Matthew 24:26-27 (CSB)

So if they tell you, ‘See, he’s in the wilderness!’ don’t go out; or, ‘See, he’s in the storerooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

When Jesus Returns- It will get . Then it will get

1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 (CSB)

For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Men and women of Kansas City, why do you stand looking up into the heaven?

While I wait I will- . (Seek God’s Kingdom and live righteously)

Matthew 6:33 (CSB)

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…

I am more faithful in my relationship with Jesus when I am accountable to other men and women.

While I wait I will- .

Matthew 28:19-20 (CSB)

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
