Part 1: Godly Risk Takers!

June 6, 2021

Deuteronomy 32:11-12 (GW)
Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreads its wings to catch them, and carries them on its feathers, 12 so the LORD alone led his people.

Step #1: God us to take godly risks!

Judges 13:25 (NLT)

And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir Samson…

Ezra 1:5 (NLT)

Then God stirred the hearts of the priests and Levites and the leaders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple of the Lord.

Haggai 1:14 (NIV)

So the LORD stirred up – Zerubbabel, Joshua the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God.

  • Sometimes God “stirs us” with a call, like he did with Abraham!
  • Sometimes God “stirs us” with a crisis, like he did with Joseph!
  • Sometimes God “stirs us” with an injustice, like he did Moses!
  • Sometimes God “stirs us” through a loved one, like he did with Esther!
  • Sometimes God “stirs us” through dissatisfaction, like he did with Paul!

Step #2: God us in taking godly risks!

  • Jesus invites us to – “!”

John 1:38-39 (NLT)

Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”

39 “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.

  • Jesus invites us to – “!”

Mark 1:16-20 (NLT)

One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.

17 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!18 And they left their nets at once and followed him.

19 A little farther up the shore Jesus saw Zebedee’s sons, James and John, in a boat repairing their nets. 20 He called them … and they also followed him, leaving their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired men.

  • Jesus invites us to – “!”

Matthew 9:36-38 (NLT)
When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

Step #3: God us when we take godly risks!

Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NLT)

There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor. 27 The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you.
