God Works Through You

September 4, 2022 / Pastor Dennis Beatty / Ephesians 2:1-10

Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. Matthew 7:13-14

But she (he) who gives herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she (he) lives. 1 Timothy 5:6

Don’t be a sinful mess, but by grace become God’s masterpiece.

The first road sign: “You are dead.”

The world is against you.

You were dead in your sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world. Ephesians 2:1-2a

The devil hinders you.

According to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 2:2b

The second road sign: “You are determined to sin.”

Among them we formerly lived in lust indulging the desires of the flesh and were by nature children of wrath. Ephesians 2:3

The exit road sign: “Christ makes you alive.”

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love even when we were dead in our sins, made us alive together with Christ. Ephesians 2:4-6

The new road sign: “You are a debtor to God’s grace.”

In order that the ages to come He might show the riches of His grace toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not as a result of works, that no one should boast. Ephesians 2:7-9

The final road sign: “You are to magnify God’s grace.”

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

So What?

  • To earn heaven: wrong strategy.
  • Honor God while being “in Christ”.
