Changing Without Changing The Essentials

May 2, 2021 / Dennis Beatty

Wisdom requires change in some areas and not in others

You need wisdom to know when not to change 1 Corinthians 9:20, 21a

You need wisdom to know when change is needed Acts 13:14, 44, 46

You need wisdom to know why change is needed  1 Corinthians 9:21b

You need reasons to change 1 Corinthians 9:22

You need flexibility to keep on changing

Day 1: Lunch with nonbelieving Jews. Paul eats a kosher meal and spends time debating the Old Testament. He is careful in his behavior and actions. He follows the details of Jewish tradition.

Day 2: Lunch with nonbelieving Gentiles. Paul eats a ham sandwich and enjoys some meat offered to idols. He discusses Greek philosophy and Greek poetry.

Day 3: Lunch with the weak. Paul eats Gentile food, but he declines meat offered to idols because it could hinder his presentation of the gospel.

You need wisdom to know what to change and what not to change 1 Corinthians 14:23-25

You need wisdom to see it’s time to change Acts 15:1, 19, 31

You need to know what never changes Galatians 1:8; Hebrews 13:8; Acts 4:12; Isaiah 40:8
