This Is That | Part 3 – Healing | 06.21.20

Acts 2:12-15 (NIV) Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.” Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!

Acts 2:16 (KJV) No, this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.

Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

John 14:12 (NIV) Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these…

Romans 8:11 (NLT) The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.

Our God heals, but He doesn’t heal all the time.

2 Timothy 4:20 (NIV) Erastus stayed in Corinth, and I left Trophimus sick in Miletus.

1 Timothy 5:23 (NLT) Don’t drink only water.  You ought to drink a little wine for the sake of your stomach because you are sick so often.

2 Corinthians 12:7–9 (NIV) … I was given a thorn in my flesh… Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Why Did Jesus Often NOT Do Miracles?

1.  Jesus refused to do miracles to himself.

Mark 8:11–12 (NIV) The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven. He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.”

2.  Jesus never did a miracle that with God’s ultimate plan

Matthew 26:53–54 (NLT) Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”

3.  Jesus didn’t do miracles where there was no .

Matthew 13:58 (NIV) And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

Our Faith Moves The Heart Of God

Mark 5:34 (NIV) He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you…”

Luke 17:19 (NIV) “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Mark 10:52 (NIV) “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.”

Matthew 17:20 (NLT) Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Mark 9:22-24 (NIV) …But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Our faith isn’t based on what God .

Our faith is based on who God .

Isaiah 55:8–9 (NIV) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
