1. This is bigger than my position

13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13)

2. is greater than me.

19 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”  20 And they left their nets at once and followed him. (Matthew 4:19-20)

3. is essential to leading well.

19 So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. (John 5:19)

19 For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
20 The wild animals in the fields will thank me,
the jackals and owls, too,
for giving them water in the desert.
Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland
so my chosen people can be refreshed. (
Isaiah 43:19-20)

4. Leading starts with .

25 “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.  26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,  27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.  28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28)
