TODAY’S SERMON
SERMON SERIES: Acts 2 Pentecost
TITLE: Birthed as a Community
TEXT:
Acts 2:42-47
SPEAKER: Pastor Dan

We continue to discover the birth story of the Church. This week we see that the thousands of people who came to Christ on Pentecost didn’t simply wander off to figure out their faith alone. They did life together. They learned and fellowshipped together. They helped each other. They worshipped together. The community of faith is meant to be a place of radical community. In a time when loneliness is so prevalent, we have the remedy.

SERMON NOTES

A Place of Teaching

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. ~ Ephesians 4:11-13

A Place of Fellowship

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. ~ Hebrews 10:24-25

A Place of Hospitality

They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,~ Acts 2:46b

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. ~ 1 Peter 4:9 (Also Hebrews 13:2, Romans 12:13)

A Place of Worship

When you meet together, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, as you praise the Lord with all your heart. Always use the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to thank God the Father for everything. ~ Ephesians 5:19-20
