Matthew 5:1-2 NIV
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat
down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

He said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:4 NIV
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Matthew 5:5 NIV
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

: Strength under control

Numbers 12:3 KJV
Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon
the face of the earth.

Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I (Jesus) will give
you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and
humble in heart…”

: Strength under control

Three Rewards:

• You will what only can give you.

Matthew 5:5 NIV
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

• You will trade excessive for sustainable .

Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I (Jesus)
will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

• You will life-giving relationships, instead of them.

1 Peter 5:5b NIV
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another…

Proverbs 15:1 NIV
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Three Requirements:

• A heart.

Acts 3:19-20 NLT
Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped
away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the
Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.

• A spirit.

Psalm 25:9 NIV
He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble
yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in
due time.
