Make Room – For Mission

Matthew 28:18-20

18 Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 , therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

A good translation of the Great Commission would say: “go and , make disciples.”

God is calling all of us to be a part of His mission, we just need to make room for others as we’re going: on an airplane, in the office, at the gym, in our neighborhood. 

Mission isn’t something we do somewhere else, its something we do .

If we are going to MAKE ROOM for mission we need to:

• Be

  • We never know where god is going to use you. We don’t control the people that come across our paths

2 Corinthians 5:16: “From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective. Even if we have known Christ from a worldly perspective, yet now we no longer know him in this way.”

• to be available

• Be

  • People come to Jesus when people around them do.
  • Jesus baptizes and teaches.
  • Tips:
    1. Be friendly.
    2. Learn people’s names.
    3. Develop consistent rhythms in life.
    4. Serve together.

• Be

  • He wanted His disciples to go ahead and tell everybody about His sacrifice and love, but He also reminded them that they aren’t in it alone. Jesus is with us as we go, tell, and make disciples.
  • Jesus: I am with you always…

We can’t make God move. But we can for God to move in our lives.

Can you imagine what God might do if we committed to make room for rhythms in our life for God to move?

What if we did this as church?

Our lives will be changed and others will be too. Our community would be transformed.
