The Kingdom Message

A parable is a practical story (usually a comparison) that illustrates spiritual truth.

Three principles in understanding parables:

Listen from the hearer’s perspective
Look for the main point
Let the truth change your perception

Parable of the Sower and the Seed teaches us a truth regarding the message of the kingdom.

The Sower = Jesus, the King

The Seed = the Gospel – the good news of the kingdom

The Soil = the human heart

4 different soil types represent 4 different heart responses to the message of salvation – the kingdom message:

1^st Soil: Hard (A Hard Heart)
2^nd Soil: Rocky (A Superficial Heart)
3^rd Soil: Thorny (A Divided Heart)
4^th Soil: Good (A Fruitful Heart)
